After discussing about personal style, there is another side that I think worth mentioning: fashion mistakes. There is only a thin line that separates ‘uniqueness’ and ‘chaos’ – and until today, I’m also still learning the difference between both. But, after all these years, I have 5 fixed rules of fashion mistakes I would avoid, and today I’m sharing them to you. Hopefully you can cross them off the list every time you dress up.
WEARING RETRO PIECES WITHOUT A MODERN SPIN
I know I have mentioned so many times that 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s fashion trends are marching back in 2016. But that doesn’t mean you can immediately pull out your mom’s old dress and wear it in full of-another-decade outfits (and possibly makeup). So the key is to mix it up with a modern touch.
PLAYING WITH SAFE COLOURS ALL THE TIME
If I have learned anything in these past few years is that playing with colours can take your fashion game to the next level. So if you only play with safe colours like white, black, grey, or blue at all time, you might be missing out finding another style that suits yours.
PLAYING WITH TOO MUCH BOLD COLOURS
On the other side, avoid playing with too much bold colours. For instance, you are mixing fuchsia top, neon bottom, and green handbag. Well, the key here is always about balance.
WEARING CLOTHES THAT DON’T FIT
First, you should know if the clothes is what type of clothes you are buying. Is it loose-fit shirt? Is it body-con dress? Is it oversized jacket? Then, buy the clothes that fit your body but still in its original style. Don’t fall for that idea of buying smaller clothes to encourage you lose weight. Celebrate your body with outfits that make you feel comfortable and confidence.
SHOWING BRA STRAPS
Bra straps are a big no. First, even for a camisole, every outfit has its own style. So showing extra straps (bra straps) are not favorable. Second, exposed undergarment isn’t sexy. It makes you look sloppy. That’s why it is very important to look at yourself in the mirror and turn around. Check if your bra straps pop out.
