This year is all about modern silhouettes and clean lines – so I can’t argue with the fact that minimalistic outfits are making their turns for the holiday seasons. But, minimalistic outfits don’t have to be boring. Instead, I usually kick things up a notch by following simple guidelines that will make my outfits festive, in a minimal way.

PLAY WITH FABRICS

Fabrics play a huge deal in the fashion industry. While slip dresses are winning the season because of its minimalistic silhouette, you can swap out the neutrals for velvet, silky, sequin, or lace dresses. By trying out different fabrics, you can stick to being modern and minimalist while making a statement.

WEAR STATEMENT (BUT STILL COMFORTABLE) SHOES

Let’s say you want to ignore the first tips and keep your clothes super simple (because that’s who you are). Nothing’s wrong with that. Sometimes, it pays to build your look from the ground up: wear statement shoes – but still make sure it will be comfortable for you to walk around the city while looking feminine. The key to great (or bad) outfit lies in accessories. It’s easy to ruin your whole look by choosing the wrong accessories. On the flip side, it is also easy to make an ordinary outfit look great with the right accessories. It is as simple as knowing the right balance between your clothes and accessories. Here’s my secret: when in doubt, bring your sunnies along because any outfit plus sunnies equals to super cool and edgy look.
