I am not a big fan of heels myself. In fact, I am in love-hate relationship with heels – but sometimes, pretty things are hard to resist, and so are heels. They are pretty, irresistible, and what’s best is that they make us look pretty. That’s why for most special occasions, I take out my high-heels for the whole day.

So after a while, I figured out several tips to make it painless, or at the very least, less painful. And today is just about that: sharing my top secrets to wear heeled shoes all day painlessly.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING THE RIGHT SIZE

It seems like a no-brainer, but you can’t imagine how many women I have met out there that are wearing the wrong shoe size. This is the number one mistake. Keep in mind that our foot size changes over the years. Even from one brand to another, you should really pay attention to the size: not only for the length, but also for the width.

INVEST IN SILICONE METATARSAL PADS

For a shock absorbing cushion, you might want to invest in a full shoe gel insert or silicone metatarsal pads that you can purchase almost anywhere.

AVOID THIN SOLES

Thin soles will make you feel like tapping on the ground – and it will give you pain. You’d want a thicker sole that will offset some of the pressure when you are walking.

TAPE YOUR TOES

When wearing a pump, here’s a different tip: tape your toes. I have to admit that this is not a fancy one, but this sure works. Tape your third and fourth toes together (counting from the big toe). I read it somewhere that the stress on the nerve is alleviated when supported by the other toe.
