Seoul is one of the cities that has this particular charm that you can’t help but fall in love every time you peek into its corners. The weather, the landscape, the people – everything was lovely, and especially true when I have all my girls with me during my bachelorette trip. But today, instead of sharing about touristing 101, I’d love to share five little things that I really love doing in Seoul.

COSMETIC SHOPPING AT MYEONGDONG

It is no secret that Korea is where all beauty things gravitate. So Myeongdong is where I spent most of my time in Seoul. If you are a cosmetic junkie like I am, this would be your ultimate paradise.  All the popular Korean cosmetic brands are in Myeongdong: from Innisfree, Etude House, Tony Moly, and MISSHA. And, you should probably watch out for exciting discounts. A little life hack: Ask for a lot of free samples. There’s a vlog for this, so stay tuned!

INDULGING IN STREET FOOD

If you go to Korea without hoping from one street-snacks to another, you haven’t really been to Korea – and the rule is: don’t stop eating. There I said it.  My girls and I couldn’t stop munching. From teokbokki (spicy rice cakes), hotteok (sweet pancakes), kimbap (seaweed rice rolls), the classic chicken skewers,  to Bungeoppang, Korean street food were my guilty pleasure.

CHIPS-SNACKING

Whenever I go overseas, I make sure that I stopped by the minimarts – and I actually take my time browsing through the products they sell there. While in Seoul, I bought a lot – I mean a lot of chips. They sell various local chips. The two of my favourites are garlic corn and honey butter. I end up carrying a huge bag full of snack back to Jakarta.

SIPPING SOJU AT POJANGMACHA

Seoul is the city that comes to life as the sun sets. After a whole day of shopping and eating around, pojangmacha (street stall) is the go-to place to end the day. Apart from the soju, they also serve wide array of finger food. This is where you can experience the life of local people. It is said that pojangmacha is the place where guys and girls meet. It is really fun to watch how the locals interact with each other.

LADIES-SHOPPING AT DONGDAEMUN

Dongdaemun is the biggest shopping districts that opens from 10PM to 5AM. As I have said before, the soul of Seoul (pun intended) comes alive as the sky goes darker.  So if you are looking for casual clothes while walking around and enjoying the city, then this is the perfect place. I personally love Myeondong better because it is harder to resist Korean fashion products.
