I love dressing up. I love shopping and getting myself nice clothing.

But so many times in the past, I had some times when I purchased something that similar to what I’ve owned. Other than that, I’d be very confused myself. I ended up just trying and purchasing the things that I don’t really like that much, just because it was there on the mannequin. Nowadays, when I’m about to make a purchase, these are the things I put into consideration:

Look at current and upcoming trends

Grab a magazine, look at classics pieces, and browse lookbooks catalogue; all you need to do is to know what will actually good. Whether it’s anything as classic as monochrome or as new as laser-cut fabric, there’s nothing to lose to have more reference of current and upcoming trends.

Know what you want

Know what you want also means that you have to know yourself. You have to know what you like. Whether you like to look preppy or do you like to be comfortable. This will determine your choice of clothing.

Bring a friend

You know, those mirrors and lighting in the fitting room may distort the reality? You need a friend to let you know whether it definitely suits you. Plus, shopping with a girlfriend is double the fun fun!

Be creative

You can recycle your old clothing to be used or modify what you have. Things like cutting the sleeve off or making your own ripped jeans will definitely do. I’m pretty sure a lot of us own at least a pair of jeans in the closet. Making your own ripped jeans rather than purchasing a new one will definitely help you spend less.

Imagine yourself have to wear this everyday for the whole week

No, I did not mean that you will have to wear it the whole week, but rather, imagine yourself. Do you like it that much? Do you think you can pick it up anytime you want? Is it comfortable? If you’ve felt like the arms do not fit well, don’t even think about purchasing as much as you like the color/shape/design; you would definitely only wear it once.
