#OliviasTravelDiary: Fontana Hotel, Bali

March 31, 2015

As all of you have seen on my Instagram, I was in Bali a week ago and Fontana Hotel is my first destination.

One of the latest addition to the Kuta latest neighborhood of hotels, Fontana hotel offers an ‘out of your comfort zone’ hospitality services. Fontana accommodates 136 guestrooms including superior rooms, deluxe rooms, Family rooms and suites rooms as well as a Portabella Bistro, Sunny16 café that opens 24/7, and Suma Spa. All rooms include a free minibar.

Family Room

The family room has one king bed and two single beds. This is the perfect option for you who are traveling with kids.

Suite Room & Pool Area

I was staying at the 56 sqm Suite room and it was incredibly spacious! This room is the perfect definition of luxury island life. They have designer sofa, with 42” LED TV, to spoil yourself well. The room accommodates a custom made egg skin bath tub which is located beside the bed! I can jump in straight away early in the morning to refresh myself.  The bed is comfortable as ever. I can work comfortably for hours on my bed! We also had a pretty cool balcony in our room. The view is overlooking towards the pool area and trees. Very relaxing.

All guest rooms features a 24 hours room service, complimentary high speed internet access all around the hotel, Cable TV, also, tea and coffee maker, complimentary mini bar, safe deposit box, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers, and telephone.

You can watch the room tour here!

The pool area has the rainforest concept. It feels like you immediately blends in with the nature. They have lots of trees to protect you from the striking sunlight and keeping the airy ambience.

Portabella Bistro

When approaching the lobby area, you’ll see a wooden dominated panel with “PORTABELLA BISTRO” sign welcoming you. Portabella which means ‘Beautiful Door’ is celebrated for its stylish Italian Food. They will give your taste buds a journey through our innovative Italian bistro style cooking!

Their breakfast is the bomb! You definitely have to try them yourself!

In the picture below, I was having Eggplant Parmigiana, Pizza Panuozzo, Risotto Scoglio, Panna Cotta, Tiramisu and Coconut Mojito & Toblerone Martini for the drinks. My favorite from all of these has to be the Panna Cotta!!! The texture is very soft and not too sweet.

On the third day, I was having Duck Salad, Borneo King Crab Soup, Calzone Ripieno, Linguine Frutti di Mare, Red Velvet Cake, Passion Royale, Berry Merry Mule & Minty Lemon. My favorites are the duck salad and Calzone!

Sunny16  Cafe

On the other corner of the hotel, it’s the Sunny16 café. The concept of the café is a studio/workplace for creative who need to spend a day working, the coffee served in the café is a custom blend Fontana 100% Arabica blend. Two apple computers are available to use for free. The artworks and furnitures displayed in Portabella Bistro and Sunny16 café come directly from recycled items from many different places such as Indonesia, Italy, and Vietnam. Very interesting concept!

They have this unique coffee named Black Siphon. It is an Arabican coffee brews in siphon coffee maker (also known as vacuum coffee maker)! My boyfriend love it so much. I was having Green tea with jasmine accompanied with Banofe Pie, 2 mini fruit tarts, mini chocolate éclair, smoked chicken and cheese fried sandwich, and grilled vegetable sandwich. Such a perfect afternoon companion.

Suma Spa

Last but not least, on the very top floor, it’s where Suma Spa can be found. Sized approximately 650 sqm. As I was there for Nyepi, I spent my time with 3,5 hours spa! It was the best experience I ever had. They offer various body and mind treatments including massage, body scrub, and hair treatment. You can choose several types of oil/scrubs that you like. I had the body massage, body scrubs, chocolate bath and facial treatment. It was beyond amazing. I feel very relaxed and calmed. I find the chocolate bath very unique. My body literally smells like milk and chocolate which also makes my skin very silky and smooth!!

After a very relaxing day at the Suma Spa, I went to the Towel Craft Class! They thought me how to make animals from towels. I was surprised that it was actually very simple and easy. Here is a picture of me with my monkey towel!
