Today is officially two weeks away from 2017. It is crazy how time flies. This time last year, I was still single and of course, younger.

2016 has brought me a lot of things including new experiences. In another way it feels like God peels me again and again each year through all extraordinary experiences and I find my new self. And so far, I have never been disappointed. Whichever way I look at 2016, I am certain about one thing: I have learned many good lessons.

As a blogger, I am sharing the lessons to you so we can grow together – but personally, I will put it right here so that for one year to come, whenever I am in doubt, I can look back and be reminded of who I am today.

CONNECTION IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE SHOULD MAINTAIN IN LIFE

Professionally and personally, life has taught me that relationships are my biggest assets. And for all I know, I have learned that sometimes there are a lot of compromises and sacrifices to be made to nurture relationships.

BUT SOMETIMES, SOME PEOPLE JUST DON’T WANT TO BE IN OUR LIVES

And yet, sometimes no matter how hard we try, some people simply don’t want to be in our lives. That’s okay. We can let them go.

GOD COMES FIRST, THEN FAMILY

As a married woman, I continuously learn how to put God above everything else, and then my family. Tough, but putting God first means getting closer together as a family and nothing in this world can God’s love.

LOOK FOR HONESTY AND INTEGRITY

Honesty and integrity are the qualities that we should look for in others – and of course to be nurtured within ourselves. And never bargain on these.

SAYING ‘NO’ IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS SAYING YES

I have been in a position where I said ‘yes’ but deep down inside I wanted to say ‘no’. I regretted it the whole time.

ACCEPT THAT CHANGE IS PART OF LIFE

People change, and the sooner we get over it, the better. We also change, and the sooner we think of it as a compliment, the better.

KNOWING WHEN TO SLOW DOWN IS AS IMPORTANT AS KNOWING WHEN TO MOVE FORWARD

I have learned that rushing is never good. So sometimes, it is important to slow down and take a deep breath.

DISCOVER OUR LOVE LANGUAGE AND OUR PARTNER’S

It is the fundamental of communication, and knowing how to make your partner feels loved as just as important as knowing how to make yourself feel loved.

SEEK QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Whether it is in relationship and conversation, or in tangible things like gadgets, clothes and accessories.

DRESS LIKE OURSELVES, BUT BETTER

Always dress the way we want to reflect ourselves, but better. Dress the way we want to be in the next five years.
